BOURNE TO KNIT.COM
Whilst on holiday this year I was still preparing for exhibiting at the NEC. I took my trusty knitting bag full of projects, as always, but this time I was knitting samples for the exhibition. I managed to finish them all too! Want to see them - then come and have a look, they'll be on display on my stand at the NEC during the Knitting and Stitching Show from the 11th to the 14th.
Although my holiday was only a few weeks ago, it feels like an age already, especially as I look out of the window and look at the rain. I like to look to nature for inspiration, and whilst the rain itself doen't seem very inspiring on first glance I do notice something else. The birds are still flying about regardless of the downpour. Also the red squirrel that visits regularly is dashing backwards and forwards between the hazel trees on the lane. The inspiration I draw from this? Well, despite the weather everything else gets on with things. Whilst I am not inspired for designing I am inspired to get on with things, so, I am now going to curl up in my comfy chair, and snuggle up with my latest project............
Well I can't believe that I've been so busy that I didn't get to blog anything for July!
Busy doing what you may ask - well I've been busy getting publicity together and knitting up garments etc for the KNITTING AND STITCH SHOW at the NEC in September. I am also preparing for a show in Nice in October, and then I have the new shop premises to organise ready for their opening just after that.
August is the time for holidays - and I am in need of mine. Unusually, I have organised the packing, and everything is ready to load into the car ready for our camping expedition to the Ardèche. This is normally all crammed in at the last minute! It feels quite odd and I am not sure I like being this organised - I feel sure something is bound to wrong. Being disorganized means you don't have time to worry about things like this!!
Anyway, I hope you all have a good holiday, and will be back on line in 2 weeks................
Well I received the keys to my new shop on the 2nd June, and the builders are in already! To be fair it is my husband and his work colleague doing the work - so I had some bargaining power!!!!
Seeing as the works are being carried out between jobs, a September opening is planned. Can't wait. Things don't always go to plan though do they? Already we have had disappointment - we knew there were lovely old floorboards that could have been lovingly restored, however, some bright spark decided to glus the vinyl covering to the boards. Not just around the edges, oh no, i think they must have tipped the whole glue pot out and spread it all over before laying the vinyl on top. I think it will be too much work to fetch it off, so we may have to go with seagrass floor covering instead. But on the plus side when one of the walls were removed we discovered that the adjoining walls were built out of good quality stone that can be pointed up to look real nice! Each day will have its ups and downs - just so long as the day ends on an up, that's OK by me.
Busy arranging for shows later this month. Organising posters, knitted display garments and other publicity materials for the K&S show at the NEC in September. (Will give you all the necessary info nearer the time). It may seem like there is plenty of time but by the time you take out the family holiday, the fact that everything stops in France during August anyway, and also make provision for postal strikes and any other stike that may come along between now and then, what time that is left will pass all too quickly.
